Future of PCs

In this post, I don't want do follow this blog's usual style. I want to talk about a subject and tell you about my opinion. I ask you to write your opinion on this topic too - as comments. I'll try to make a forum or something for this discussion, but we can can start here in this blog.

Subject : How the future of PCs would be?

I think PCs won't exist in future as are today. In the recent years, Web 2 and cloud technology have gained much popularity. I think that in future PCs would just be some kind of television. Google is going to introduce GoogleTV, which will act both as a TV and an Internet client. I think in future, we will just use some sort of television like GoogleTV to send our requests to Internet servers and they would process the requests and send us their output as data. We will only need some sort of screens to see the output. They'll be touchscreens, so that we won't need any mouse or keyboard. They'll also have communication devices to do all the communications needed. The OS will only be a professional web browser as all programs will only be cloud websites.

This was MY prediction. Post YOURS in the comments part.

MySQL regards the deal DONE

Today I read Save MySQL blog. I understood that Oracle has listed MySQL as one of it's products. It's not something new, but it shows the importance of saving MySQL. As written in the Save MySQL blog, we still have the opportunity to save MySQL.

iBad

As you know, iPad was introduced a few weeks ago. You may not believe that it can be used against Free Software. To find out why, read below (From http://www.defectivebydesign.org/ipad) :

Mr. Jobs,

DRM will give Apple and their corporate partners the power to disable features, block competing products (especially free software) censor news, and even delete books, videos, or news stories from users' computers without notice-- using the device's "always on" network connection.

This past year, we have seen how human rights and democracy protestors can have the technology they use turned against them. By making a computer where every application is under total, centralized control, Apple is endangering freedom to increase profits.

Apple can say they will not abuse this power, but their record of App Store rejections and removals gives us no reason to trust them. The iPad's unprecedented use of DRM to control all capabilities of a general purpose computer is a dangerous step backward for computing and for media distribution. We demand that Apple remove all DRM from its devices.

Save MySQL!

Oracle decided to buy Sun. As Sun develops MySQL, If Oracle owns MySQL then developers will have to “pay the bill”.

If you don’t want to pay the bill, or you don’t want Oracle to own MySQL for any other reasons, then you can help MySQL by signing the petition at HelpMySQL.org.
